Lifeguard Certifications

This is an American Red Cross Certification class and covers Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid and AED skills.

Prerequisites include:
 

• Must be at least 16 years of age, unless signing up for Basic Life Saving and Junior lifeguarding.   
  

• Able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and breaststroke techniques

• Tread water for two minutes without the use of their hands

• Must be able to surface dive 7-10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound weight, return to surface and swim an additional 20 yards while carrying weight on chest

** Certifications candidates must be 16 years of age on or before the completion of the class **

For ages 11-14 interested in becoming lifeguards and gaining job experience. Junior guards will be trained as water safety assistants and assist with lifeguard duties and swim lessons. Successful completion of the program will result in Junior Guard, First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.
